This is the first post of the new site. I’m going to spend several days updating the links and pages from the old site, so that everything makes sense.
Sadly the glossary has had to be removed as there wasn’t a huge amount of interest and the wiki at the Blueroom is doing a better job.
I wanted to set up a blog to keep the numerous bits of info that I’ve got collected over the years and this seemed the easiest way of doing it.
I signed up for a free blog from wordpress.com which gave me a taster but didn’t allow me to easily post code snippets - a disadvantage.
I’ve gone with wordpress.org as the software after looking at various options and am now playing with all of the templates, including add on widgets etc to try and get some good simple looks. I’ve hosted on the dedicated server and it seems to be quick enough.
I’m also developing another site using Knowledge Tree to act as a file server for the various productions I work on. It seems to have quite a heavy server load, but security is tight and I can finally link direct to it using webdav from a standard windows machine - this makes updates alot easier and finally bypasses FTP. Having direct browser access I think will help all of those clients who need to see files but can’t get their heads around anything too complicated.
